The Pause That Saved Me

✨ Battle-Tested Beauty Journal: The Pause That Saved Me
Activation 10 – Choosing Response Over Reaction
The trigger came quickly. Pressure pressing in, a rising defensiveness, the sting of not being heard. My chest tightened, my throat constricted, my body braced as if to run. The story whispered loud: “You don’t matter. Your ideas are not legitimate.”
My protection was the old pattern: shut down, slip away, hide until I could breathe again. I thought it would keep me safe from being put down, from being made small. But what it really did was silence me.
This time, though, I chose differently. I imagined myself saying:
“I am triggered right now and need time to contemplate in silence. When I’ve filtered through my obstacle, I’ll return.”
And instantly, my body softened. The tension unraveled. My chest opened, my breath flowed. I saw myself not as fragile or dismissed, but as sovereign — respected, holding space for my own process without creating more karma, more trauma.
Because that is what my body does best when I let it:
transmute.
transfigure.
turn triggers into new life and light.
I see now the situations that tempt me most to react: the moments when I feel unvalued, when my ideas aren’t invited. My breath constricts, my chest closes in. But my Sovereign Self speaks clearly:
“Your ideas don’t belong everywhere. Wait. Listen. When they are welcomed, speak with clarity, speak with love — to the ego, not from it.”
This is my power: the pause.
The breath between reaction and response.
The choice to stay seated in sovereignty, even when my body flares with old reflexes.
This week, I will use my pause in relationships, in groups, in conversations where my voice is tested. I will not abandon myself to reaction. I will soften into response.
For in the pause, I find my freedom.
And in my response, I reclaim my power.
